Mr Rochas Okorocha, Governor of Imo State, says public school
teachers have to upgrade their IT skills to remain relevant in today’s
digital world.
Okorocha gave this advice during a meeting with all the head
teachers and members of the State Development Council (SDC) at the Imo
International Convention Centre, Owerri.
According to him , “education has changed in the 21st century, every
teacher must be ICT compliant, very soon teachers who are not ICT
compliant may become irrelevant and outdated in the teaching
profession.”
The Imo State Governor frowned at how the fund he released to
principals and head teachers for renovations in their schools were

Such ugly action according to him, negatively affected his good
intentions to give school structures in the state a face lift through
them.
The Governor however scored Imo State teachers high for their
commitment to duty and diligent services, noting that their welfare
will remain his topmost priority. He equally suggested the need to start
promoting Igbo culture in schools.
The event attracted the Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere, the
Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Acho Ihim, Chief of Staff
Government House Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, Deputy Chief of Staff Domestic and
Internal Affairs Hon. Mrs Ogechi Ololo, Commissioners, Special Advisers,
Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants among others, according
to a statement issued by the Imo State Government.
