Female graduates can get IT skills at the PinkiT Initiative
The PinkiT Initiative
has set out to empower unemployed young female graduates in Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) with software development
and entrepreneurial skills to take up entrepreneurial role in the
Software Industry.
Those applying as candidates for the initiative must be graduates with a minimum of HND or B.Sc in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines who are currently unemployed. A creative and analytical mind is also a prerequisite for being chosen.
The programme is 22-week long; 16 of which will be weekend training workshops and practical hands-on assignments, afterwards a 6-week internship in a software development company.
Similar trainings have been valued above $15,000 per participant, but the PinkiT Initiative is completely free without any contractual obligations. The programme is free because most of the costs being incurred is covered by the United States Consulate and majority of the faculty will be volunteering.
The training will be handled by professional software engineers, entrepreneurs, business development consultants and life coaches who will be available.
