6 tech events you shouldn’t miss this Friday (and Saturday)
The Nigeria tech space records one of the highest numbers of events and activities in a calendar year.
With awareness in the Nigerian technology space taken an increasing turn, it’s no surprise as to why more startups, SMEs, businesses and surprisingly, foreign investors are proactively looking for ways to establish a connection with the burgeoning ecosystem.
Interestingly enough, the number seem to have been on the rise since Mark’s Zuckerberg’s visit.
Here is a list of tech events you can look forward to this weekend.
StartUP Friday
StartUP Friday is a component of OIIE, designed to bridge the startup growth gap by enriching the development processes of new tech-driven businesses through meet-ups with successful entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, technology buyers and enthusiasts in major tech clusters across the country.The organisers of the StartUP Friday often provide seed funding (at zero equity requirement) to tech-driven startups with high growth potential who will be pitching at the event.
The fifth edition of the StartUp Friday will hold on Friday, in Lagos.

Ruby on Rails Lagos meetup
Inspired by the mandate to contribute to the international Rails community, Ade Osindero, Celestine Omin, Oreoluwa Akinniranye and Sunday Adefila will be hosting brainstorming sessions to discuss rails routing, ruby constants and garbage collection, caching and query optimisation.The goal is to create a community support for Ruby on rail developers to learn and hack technical rail solutions.

Ingressive’s Investor Dinner ft. Y Combinator
You may have heard that the Silicon Valley Accelerator, Y Combinator is visiting Nigeria and will be gracing a couple of tech stages between September 23rd and 28th on a tour of the Nigerian technology ecosystem.Ingressive, alongside Michael Seibel and Qasar Younis will be organising a private dinner to host the firm that is presumably the world’s most powerful start-up incubator.

Tech Circle Presentation
Fundamentally created to manage the ecosystem activities and interests of Oo Nwoye, Co-founder of Fonebase Labs, TechCircle will be hosting a presentation to discuss the pros and cons of building a successful startup and how more Nigerian entrepreneurs can reach the level of success attained by 4 of the 5 most valuable companies in the US — all startups.Several investors (including Michael and Qasar, Partners from Y Combinator), academic and incubator communities will be on ground to share their thoughts on opportunities that founders are missing and how communities can better support them.

Kaduna Startup Weekend
